Almost every home in Tampa Bay is built on a concrete slab, which shapes what flooring works well. The three options we install most are porcelain tile, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and glue-down engineered wood. Each has a place.
Porcelain tile is the most durable choice. It's unaffected by water, handles sand and pets, and lasts for decades. Wood-look porcelain planks give you the warmth of wood with none of the moisture worries. The trade-offs are a harder, cooler surface underfoot and a longer install, because tile needs a flat slab and time for thinset and grout.
LVP is fully waterproof, softer and warmer to walk on, and quicker to install. It's a good fit for bedrooms, family rooms and rental properties. It's less scratch-resistant than tile, and planks need a flat subfloor and proper expansion gaps or they can click and separate.
Glue-down engineered wood gives you real wood on concrete. Done right, with a moisture test and a moisture-control adhesive, it feels solid and quiet. It needs more care around water than tile or LVP, so it's best in living areas rather than kitchens and baths.
Many homes end up with a mix: tile in kitchens, baths and entries, and LVP or wood in living spaces and bedrooms. We'll go through the options for each room during your free estimate.
